Trim Video
Cut the start and end of any MP4/MOV right in your browser. Instant mode copies the stream with zero quality loss; precise mode re-encodes for exact frame cuts. Nothing is uploaded.
Lossless by default
Instant mode copies video samples between keyframes instead of re-encoding, so a 200 MB clip is cut in seconds with byte-identical quality.
Frame-exact when you need it
Switch to precise mode and Pixlane re-encodes with hardware acceleration (WebCodecs) for an exact in/out point.
Private
The whole pipeline — demux, cut, remux — runs on your device. Your footage never touches a server.
How to trim a video
- Open the tool and add your video. Open Pixlane Trim Video and drop your MP4 or MOV (or choose a file). It loads instantly and is processed on your device — nothing is uploaded.
- Adjust. Drag the timeline handles to set the exact start and end of the clip you want to keep.
- Export and download. Click Cut video and download the result — free, no watermark, no signup.
Frequently asked questions
Does trimming reduce quality?
No. Instant mode copies the original stream without re-encoding, so quality is identical. Precise mode re-encodes only when you choose it.
Why does the start time snap slightly?
Lossless cutting can only start on a keyframe. Pixlane snaps to the nearest keyframe and shows you the exact resulting times — or use precise mode for frame-exact cuts.
Is there a file size limit?
Files are processed in memory on your device; clips up to a few hundred MB work well on a typical laptop.
What video formats can I trim?
MP4 and MOV are cut losslessly by copying the stream. WebM and other containers are supported too — they re-encode through your browser's hardware encoder.
Can I trim a video on my phone?
Yes. Trimming runs in the mobile browser and stays on your device, so how large a clip you can handle depends on your phone's memory.
