Pixlane

Change Video Speed

100% free No upload — on-device No watermark

Turn clips into timelapses (up to 8×) or smooth slow-motion (down to 0.25×). Frame timing is rewritten on the fly with hardware encoding.

0.25× – 8× range

Chips for the common speeds plus a free numeric field for anything in between.

Real retiming

Pixlane rewrites presentation timestamps and re-paces frames — not a playback trick, the exported file really is faster or slower.

Local processing

Everything happens on your device via WebCodecs.

How to change video speed

  1. Open the tool and add your video. Open Pixlane Change Video Speed and drop your MP4 or MOV (or choose a file). It loads instantly and is processed on your device — nothing is uploaded.
  2. Adjust. Pick a playback speed, from 0.25× slow motion up to 8× timelapse.
  3. Export and download. Click Apply speed and download the result — free, no watermark, no signup.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to the audio?

At 1× audio is kept untouched. At other speeds the audio track is removed in this version — pitch-correct audio retiming is on the roadmap.

Does slow motion interpolate new frames?

No — frames are re-paced. For 0.5× on 30 fps footage you get smooth 15 fps motion; filming at 60 fps gives the best slow-mo.

Maximum speed?

8× in one pass; run the result again for more.

Can I make a timelapse?

Yes — pick 2×–8× to compress long footage into a short timelapse; the exported file is genuinely re-timed, not just played back faster.

Does changing speed change the resolution?

No. Only frame timing is rewritten — resolution and framing stay the same.
